So who wrote 'The Hulk'?

An interview with Ed Norton presented in anticipation of the film's release on DVD was posted on Movies.ie recently. The interview is generally very interesting as Norton discusses the film, his role, his love of comics, and the issues inherent with portraying an iconic pop-culture character. Of particular interest to anyone following the 'screenwriting issue' with the film is this specific Q&A:

Q: Is it true you wrote the screenplay for the movie too?
A: "Yeah, I came in to this and wrote the screenplay."
Interviews are often edited so Norton may have offered more than just this one sentence on the topic, but it is not the first time Norton has been quoted as saying he wrote the film. If Norton is to be taken at his word, why did Zak Penn get full screenwriting credit?

Who wrote 'The Hulk'?

David Maisel may just be the right man for the job

I was reading an article at Comic Book Resources in which Milo Ventimiglia is quoted as saying: "I was actually having a conversation last night, with [Marvel Studios Chairman] David Maisel and he was talking about ‘Iron Man.’ He was basically saying that it’s a character piece where the guy just happens to be a superhero". When I read this, I realized that Maisel gets it. That one sentiment he expressed to Ventimiglia in its own way sums up everything that was right about the film version of 'Iron Man' and most of what was wrong with the film version of 'The Fantastic Four'. It's the concept that set Marvel apart from its competitors in the 1960s and onward. Hopefully, Maisel can keep this key tenant in mind as work moves forward on all of the upcoming Marvel Movies. If so, we're in for a great ride.

Marvel Studios to buy studio lot in LA, if...

The LA Times is reporting that 'Iron Man' director Jon Favreau and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger are trying to push the state of California to offer tax breaks to film and television productions in an effort to keep these productions from moving their operations to other states. One bargaining chip Favreau has in his favor is the possibility that Marvel Studios may buy a studio in LA and film up to four movies there - if certain tax incentives are enacted.

What the heck is 'X-Men: First Class'?

So SuperHeroHype.com has this article about a listing they spotted on Production Weekly for something called 'X-Men: First Class'. They speculate that the listing may be referring to a future movie based on the comic book series. Now I don't know much about this Production Weekly website and I'm not familiar with all of the listings on that page, but the majority of them seem like upcoming movies. However, I did notice that one of the listings was for 'The Office Spin-Off' - a television series.
